The story of Sophie Atay on ITV news tonight compelled me to make a donation. Without treatment Sophie only has a very short time to live.
I have posted the links on this site to increase the visibility of the appeal and to ensure that people can find the correct website that the news story refers to.

Excerpted from Sophie Atay Appeal website:
“Sophie Atay was born fit and healthy on 15 November 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
One day whilst drying Sophie after her usual bath they felt a lump on the left side of her tummy. After numerous and frustrating hospital visits over a 10 day period Sophie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4 (high risk) on Monday 16 February 2009. Sophie’s family will never forget that day! Her cancer had spread to her bone marrow. She was just 15 months old. Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive malignant cancer with horrendous survival rates as low as 20%. Relapse is very common which is reflected in the survival rate. If relapse does occur there is no cure at the moment in the UK.
Sophie’s family are now looking to raise funds to take her to the Memorial Slone Kettering Hospital in New York for treatment.

Update – November 2, 2009
Considering times are hard it’s nice to see people pull together and help in times of need. I am so pleased to say that Sophie’s family have reached the target of 500K.
Hopefully people will continue to donate to help raise funds for other children who desperately require treatment via The 2Simple Trust who raise money to benefit children suffering from neuroblastoma, to fund research into neuroblastoma, and to achieve other charitable purposes which seek to assist those children suffering from neuroblastoma.
